Home economics (HE) is an academic discipline that combines aspects of social and natural science. HE deals with the relationship between individuals, families, and communities, and the environment in which they live.
Disciplines: consumer science, nutrition, parenting, family economics and resource management, human development, interior design, textiles, apparel design, as well as other related subjects.

1st woman to be admitted to MIT in 1868.
Her interests :
applying scientific principles to domestic situations, such as nutrition, clothing, physical fitness, sanitation, and efficient home management, creating the field of home economics.
